BTC Slots Strategy – How You can Win More Often on Crypto Slot Machines

BTC Slots Strategy - Learn to Win More on Crypto Slot Games

Slot machines are every casino’s favorite game to host. They supply them in dominating abundance. As a result, hundreds, if not thousands of slot cabinets line the walls and “action alleys” of every casino from Las Vegas to Halifax. Online casinos, and even Bitcoin casinos, are no different. For every card, table and video poker game on the digital menu, players will find dozens more slot machines, from classic 1-liners and 3-reels, to fixed lines and megaways video slots, to life-changing progressive jackpots.

Casinos love these games so much because they are their bread and butter. Historically, slots have been known to carry some of the worst payout percentages. That isn’t just a stereotype, either. Nevada gaming law states a slot machine can have an RTP as low as 75% (house edge 25%). The good news is, casinos know they can’t compete on the Las Vegas Strip with odds that bad, so they generally boost the RTPs to somewhere between 85% and 92%. Here in Canada, casino slots tend to pay 88% to 92%. It’s better than Vegas, but still far worse than what you can find online.

Surprise! The Best Slots RTPs are at Online Casinos

Internet casinos have the best slot machines in the business. Their RTPs average 96%, with a typical range of 94% to 97%. Some even scale as high as 98.8%! That’s not just good for a slot machine, it’s even better than most table games (outside of blackjack, of course).

The key to finding a good slot machine is knowing what types of games are out there. In this way, you’ll have a better understanding of what to look for, as well as how to place your bets to get the highest return percentage.

In the following text, we’ll teach you how to play different types of slot machines, and the strategies for optimal results, too. We’ll also talk about Bitcoin casino slots, and what types of crypto currencies you can use to play them. Slot Machine Rules by Type

There are four main types of slot machines we’ll be talking about. They are Multi-Coin Slots, Multi-Line Slots, Ways-to-Win Slots, and Progressive Jackpot games. What sets the first two categories apart are the payouts for betting more or less coins. The third type features the most ways to line up a win, while progressives carry a jackpot prize that climbs higher and higher until it’s won. Let’s have a closer look…

Multi-Coin Slots (Classics Slots, 3-Reels, 1-Liners)

These were among the world’s earliest slot machines. We don’t see nearly as many of them today, online or on land, but there are still a few around for those who prefer a vintage gaming experience. They have three reels, usually filled with 7s, bars and a variety of fruits (hence the nickname, “fruit machines“).

Multi-coin slots are the type that pay for lining up winning combinations across 1, 3, or 5 lines, without having to insert additional coins to activate more lines. Instead, the number of coins you insert increases the payout for each type of win. When that payout receives a boost for betting max coins, we call them Bonus Slots.

If you’re going to play multi-coin slots, bonus slots are definitely the type to look for. You’ll know them by the multiplier on their highest winning combination. For example, if three 7s pays 15 for 1 coin, 30 for two coins, and 50 for the max three coins, you know it’s a bonus slot, because an even multiplier would have paid 45 for max coins. That extra 5 is the “bonus”. These are considered the better slot machines because betting max coins effectively increases the game’s return to player (RTP).

Multi-Line Slot Machines

These are among the most common types of slots today, featuring anywhere from 3 to 100 pay lines. These slots require you to choose a coin denomination, then insert one coin for each payline you want to activate. Take nickel slots, for example. If you’re paying a nickel per line on a 20-line game, while betting max coins, you’ll be betting $1.00 per spin. The same goes for a 100-line penny slot; 100 lines at $0.01 each = $1.00.

Most multi-line slots will let you choose how many lines to activate. Then there are games that don’t even give you a choice. These are called ‘fixed payline’ games. Either way, you’ll always get the highest RTP by playing max lines, so don’t skimp on your pay-line activation.

Ways-To-Win Slots

Many years ago, online gaming software giant Microgaming produced the first ‘243 Ways to Win’ online slot machine. It was a revolutionary idea. Manufacturers didn’t want to go over the already-high 100 line game, because players would not want to pay more than 100 coins per spin to play it. Ways-to-win slot machines, (a.k.a. “all ways slots”) made it so that players could bet an amount of their choosing, but still enjoy far more paylines than ever before.

The number 243 happened naturally, as there are exactly 243 possible ways to line up any winning combination, left to right, on a standard 5×3 reel slot. Over time, the numbers of ‘ways’ grew larger as slots creators added more positions, more reels, more columns, or ran the winning lines both ways (left to right, and right to left). Today, there are all ways slots with more than one hundred thousands ways to line up a win, most of which are in the trademark Megaways family of slot machines.

You’re probably wondering how casinos can pay out so much for all those lines. Actually, the winnings tend to add up to very little. On a 243 ways game with a $1 bet, that $1 is divided by 243 to determine the bet per line. That comes to just $0.0041 per line. At that rate, you could line up winning combinations worth 5x the line bet across 20 different lines, and still win less than you actually wagered. At the same time, one really good spin with a few wilds in the mix can result in a massive payout. It’s that extreme variance in all-ways games that tends to attract so many players.

Progressive Jackpot Slots

Finally, the progressive jackpot slot is the one we all hear about, but don’t think we’ll ever get lucky enough to win on. A progressive jackpot game is one in which a small percentage of each bet is reserved for the jackpot. That prize pool grows progressively larger with each bet placed until some fortunate soul is lucky enough to win it. When that happens, the jackpot is re-seeded with a minimum amount (the “seed” amount), and begins to climb once more.

There are pros and cons to playing progressive slots. The pro is obvious – you can win a life-changing amount of money. Some of these machines, like Microgaming’s Mega Moolah, seed at one million, guaranteeing every mega jackpot winner will be an instant millionaire. The con is that the house edge on these games is always higher. It has to be in order to continuously collect money in the jackpot. But the higher the jackpot climbs, the more appealing that game looks to players, higher edge or not.

Win More Often with Slot Machine Strategies

Now that you know about the different types of slot machines, let’s talk about some real slots strategies you can use to increase your odds of winning. First, let me address the topic of, “there’s no such thing as a strategy for slot machines“.

There are plenty of people who believe this. The reason they believe it is because they are comparing slot machines to other casino games like blackjack and video poker, where the right strategies can have a remarkable impact on the RTP. That’s because those games allow the player to make decisions in-play, during the course of a game. Those decisions directly impact the likelihood of winning the hand. Slot machines and the strategies that go with them are different, but they do exist, and they absolutely are real. The difference is that the decisions you can make when playing slots are all made before you press the ‘Spin‘ button.

Picking the Right Game – RTP Comparison

First of all, slot machine selection is critical. If you’re looking for the highest RTP, progressive jackpots are not the way to go. As we already discussed, progressives in general have the lowest RTPs of all slots. The highest RTPs are found on multi-coin bonus slots and high-variance multi-line slots.

If you’re playing online, most of today’s games will show you the RTP right on the paytable info sheet. Look for it, and don’t settle for anything less than 96%. The only exception to this rule is a progressive slot machine in which the jackpot has risen to an astronomical size. When this happens, every wager increases the RTP rate exponentially until it is released, so much so that once the jackpot rises high enough, the game can actually reach or exceed an RTP of 100%.

When playing a multi-coin bonus slot or multi-line slot, always bet max coins. That doesn’t mean you have to bet the max coin denomination, just the max number of coins. This ensures you’re getting the highest RTP for the game you’re playing.

One final note, and this is extremely important – ALWAYS READ THE PAYTABLE! If there’s some special choice you can make, or bet size you can place, that will increase the game’s RTP, the info on paytable will tell you about it. I know, no one ever wants to read the fine print, but if you’re serious about getting the absolute highest highest chance of winning on any slot machine, you have to understand what it takes to achieve that point.

Availability of Online Slots at Online Casinos

Like land-based casinos, online gambling sites are all about the slot machines. You may find a dozen different blackjack variants, just as many roulette tables, and a throng of other card and table games on the menu, but the number of slot machines will always be in the hundreds, if not thousands. Their paylines come in all shapes and sizes, catering to fans of every theme you can possibly imagine.

It’s not just the standard online casinos that offer so many choices. Most of today’s crypto casinos are no different. They thrive on providing a massive slots variety to their virtual patrons.
